Self managed superannuation funds (​SMSF’s) are a popular choice for Australians wishing to be responsible for managing their retirement savings. The trustees of an SMSF must meet statutory obligations to ensure their fund’s compliance.

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) is the regulator of SMSF’s and requires trustees to appoint an approved SMSF auditor and to lodge an SMSF annual return. The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) maintains the registration of ​Approved SMSF auditors, providing them with an SMSF Auditor Number (SAN).

The SMSF Association is the leading body for SMSF Education and provides extensive support to both SMSF professionals and SMSF trustees.
